Ever Found Yourself Online?

I went to look something up yesterday and suddenly found myself staring at my byline on an archived article I had no immediate recollection of writing from 2005.  After reading the article, I did recall interviewing the subject, a local educator and business woman who hoped her very successful venture would continue to thrive without her at the helm. It did not, sadly. She would now be in her eighties. I hope she is well.

It seems odd to find reminders of my former life this way...

I think that's pretty darn cool.

It's so weird that we did things that we have no recollection of. I found my letters to my mother from college and remember so little of all i reported.

What an amazing find.
My dull self is conspicuously absent online.

All the time - but that happens with writers. I enjoy it most, not when I find myself, but when others find me. Genuine comments on my blog or about my books are a pleasure to receive. Sometimes I get comments years after I have written something.

And I like the new blog look too - retro simple; very good.

That's great. Especially if you approve the writing, as in gosh I was good!

My dear E, It's wonderful that you discovered an article written by you online back in 2005. With the internet, there is now such thing as the digital legacy. I hope that you will keep the article in your personal archive. I like the new design and format of your blog. The background colour of deep blue reminds me of the ocean and it makes me feel calm to read here.

I am sometimes astonished at old writings of mine on line, I used to write for a now defunct magazine. So I hear you and sense your pleasure at finding something from way back.

Hi e, I feel the same astonishment looking back at my prior work. Just more proof that we are every age we’ve ever been.

Wow! That's cool! What was the story? A lot of my old articles used to be online because the NYTRNG papers put their archives online with Google, but sadly, under the new ownership, I think a lot of them have been taken down.
