sobering...

To see videos and broadcasts of the devastation in Jamaica is heartrending...This is the climate change certain factions do not talk about...It could be so different if countries focused on helping each other.

Have a good evening...

These are coming

If only I could settle on a paint color for the front room...Any suggestions?

Fearful for the islands

Jamaica has taken a pounding. Cuba and Bermuda appear to be next. I can't imagine the damage.

Has anyone seen any of it?

On another subject, Mercy is freaked out. Having spent the afternoon in her stroller, safely removed from the strangers that entered our home to retrieve and dispose of old Ikea furniture, she does not quite understand her missing loveseat and chair.

There is also a large box containing a roll up bed and mattress that a very kind postal lady pushed through our door after Fed Ex left it at the door. She also handed me the groceries I had ordered. It has been a long time since I encountered such a helpful and kind stranger. The guys responsible for haulage exhibited minimal politeness and efficiency and paid to do so, provided a service. The mail lady revealed kindness beyond the bounds of her job.

So, get a cancer diagnosis, realize someone may have to stay here at some point, the princess is to be boarded for a staycation at the veterinary hospital and there needs to be more than one bed because I do not share...Hence the roll up and an incoming orange metal daybed, sheets and accoutrements that is also to serve as a seating area.

A friend popped over for some chat and lite housekeeping and gathered the last of the Lukas fur from the floor in the front room. I am sad to see it no longer hidden beneath his favorite chair...

Have a good evening...

I'll put you on the list...

So declared the friendly voice in my ear upon my call to a surgical office recommended by my GYN. I have no idea of the length of the list for the provider at USF Health and Tampa General. Another doctor at Moffit Cancer Center is so booked up that it may be months before another patient crosses his path. The post-surgical oncologist recommended by my current primary care physician cannot see me until surgery is completed and suggested a doctor in another county. This doctor has perforated a patient during surgery resulting in her death and is also more difficult to get to. My GYN's office has a contact at Moffitt so I am to hear from them. Thus are my latest adventures in our very messed up medical system. If you are reading this and don't live in the US, I apologize if it all seems confusing, but it is. It is also big business.

Apart from hours spent dialing and smiling and getting a bit exhausted, I made a stupid mistake by placing a small announcement of my diagnosis on social media for out of area friends. Most left messages of support. A cousin read and left nothing but called my octogenarian uncle and another cousin, upsetting my uncle. I feel she should have talked to me first and left the telling to me. Ms. blabbermouth has been unfriended though I doubt she'll notice. I don't have any desire to talk to her and have removed my post. My energy is better served in other places.

On a more positive note, thank you to everyone for your kind support, particularly those visiting from other blogs. I'll make best efforts to get around as I can. Take care and have a good evening!

The results are in: I have cancer

My thanks to all for your support and kind comments. The biopsy results are not good. The next steps involve seeing an oncologist, getting this staged and having a total hysterectomy. I may not be here much for the foreseeable future but please be assured that you all are appreciated.

Have a peaceful evening...

Biopsy today...

For various reasons, I have a left the first GYN practice I visited after my trip to the ER in July. My GP recommended the second after I discussed the situation, calling and sending records on my behalf. I met the latest GYN today for an exam and biopsy. The results should be available in about seven days. Dr. T is kind, professional and respectful as is her office staff. Having a uterine biopsy is not the most comfortable of affairs. Fortunately, I had nitrous oxide and a seamless procedure.

Thanks for all of your kind thoughts, emails and inquiries. All are appreciated. I've taken some extra strength Tylenol and have a heating pad at the ready. Nurse Mercy is being very attentive.
