My thanks to everyone for your kind thoughts, blog comments and private emails. I am heart broken and in need of rest. I am taking a break from social media for a bit.

Still here
Lukas has had two overnight stays at his vet in the last two weeks while enemas were given and medication changes were made. He has also had a bit of trouble walking and the radiologist could not determine whether there was a soft tissue injury or a spinal issue that could not be seen on x-ray. He is walking better with rest and time and a daily steroid medication and seems happy to follow me around our abode. He is also taking a second blood pressure med and something to help his motility so that the enemas may be reduced or unneeded. As the result of these measures, his affect and mood are much improved and he has enjoyed keeping me company with no further "pee drama," as one of you put it.
Over the last days the vet and I have discussed his end of life and she is of the opinion that while the tide is slowly turning for this boy, as long as he is comfortable and happy, and we can do what is reasonable to keep him so, it is also reasonable to see how well and for how long he responds to our efforts. He was happy and receptive to attention at the cat hospital and has been that way since returning to me. He can navigate our home with no difficulty now as well.
As for me, the end of the week finds me tired but relieved and as long as I can keep up with his six to eight meds, feedings and fluid appointments. things stay on an even keel. I am fully aware that I am providing palliative care at this point.
I will do some cooking for the week and a bit of tidying. Early to bed has become my newest habit and I'm enjoying some books as well as binge watching ten seasons of Father Brown.
My thanks to those who wrote privately or left supportive comments here. While I may be here infrequently, I do appreciate hearing from readers.
