Damn...Said She...

The girl is enjoying her beauty sleep after stirring me from mine...

I am more than mildly annoyed but have used the time to formulate a list of groceries for the coming days, organized the recycling to be taken out after the truck comes and the containers are emptied and looked at finances. Those inspire another level of consciousness and concentration unavailable at the moment so I decided to try Boud's most recent remedy and turned to streaming an episode of the British doc, Long Lost Family, via Amazon Prime Video.

I've loved the series since its inception over ten years ago mostly because I enjoy the stories. Though thought of as a means of re-uniting lost loved ones, the episode tonight featured individuals and families identifying and laying to rest remains from relatives lost during battle in 1917 and found one hundred years later in Belgium. The nine found received full military honors and their families and others involved got treated respectfully and kindly by the presenters. Nothing maudlin, very unlike a lot of American television these days.

Having been through a full military funeral at Arlington, I could appreciate some of the feelings and scenes in the program. Additionally, I remain fascinated by the doors DNA can open and the opportunities available to us for identification and information it can provide.

I hope you all have a great day. I'm off to bed.

Still Here...

Mercy and I have been doing chores, taking naps, cooking and purchasing some dreaded hurricane supplies. I've got to go through the first aid kit and batteries and make sure everything is up to date. Our climate has been mild at night and in the early morning and in the eighties during the day. Meals have been good but simple and the girl has been great. She has begun sleeping on the bed for a bit before going to her stroller for the balance of the night. This is nice for me as all of my previous cats loved sleeping in bed and all of us enjoyed snuggling. Mercy also loves to stick her nose in the nearest arm pit and lick gangbusters. This is a bonding and grooming behavior. Lucky me!

I hope your day has been pleasant. Cheers!

Hello, I Love You...

The girl and I have had several quiet days. Taxes are done and dusted for another year, the flat is tidied, laundry done, bathroom and kitchen sorted and tea consumed. The groceries for the next days have been ordered and all that remains is one soaking pan and cutlery. Mercy is contentedly observing birds and squirrels from our front room. She previously slept in the bed and chirped, opening her eyes and then closing them as I did the same to her, both of us signaling I love you to each other. Vets and cat researchers say this is real and not an accident of timing. Chirping signifies a desire for anything from food to cuddles to a friendly hello and general happiness. I reap the benefits of her happy life daily and gratefully.

Have a lovely evening...

Surprise Gift...

Ever see one of these? It is a cozy that goes around and under a small dish. Placed in the micro, it keeps hands and fingers from being burned. It came as a surprise via a good friend in Michigan. She found one as a project and made these for her daughters and me. I'll try it out soon. I'm still raspy and congested and sleep has been difficult. Thanks for the "Feel Better" messages. All are appreciated. I'm anxious to hear about the Marches today and take my hat off to Mr. Booker for his just and impassioned filibuster. If only there could be more like him.

Have a good day!

Happy Thursday

I hope all of you have a great day, I am suddenly congested and not at all myself. I'll be off blog until I feel human again. In the mean time, do take care.
