Swing...

Poem by E.

Whether from the playground or school yard,

Back yard or favourite tree,

Swinging was pure ecstasy...

Higher and faster, laughing with glee,

Pumping legs aching as we ascended,

Then downward, the arc did come

Before lifting us anew.

Freedom, flying,

The sun in our eyes,

Fingers and palms sweaty against chainlink or rope,

As wider and harder we swung,

The world below and around,

Merely a blurry background.

Oh how true that is, e. 'Tis even more fun to just close your eyes whilst swinging! You've captured it well in this poem. Princess Cheese and I have had the swings at the play-ground all to our-selves, these past two days. :)

Oh yes, the feelings of being on a swing. Takes me back to those days. Enjoyed the poem immensely and I like the picture of the blue swings.

Thank you for the great post.

God bless.

You know I don't see swings much these days. All the play areas around here are OH&S friendly with nothing exhilarating about them! Certainly no old fashioned, fall-off-backwards swings!

I can remember quite well an era of jumping out of the swing at its highest point in the front. The thought of it today terrifies me!

Loved the poem! And miss your comments on my rants on life.

lovely

this really captures it

We had a swing in our back garden - and as well as the swinging, we used to build a sort of tree house in it....
wonderful memories

Hi e,

I am shamelessly promoting a project at my website for everyone to see.

Just click on my name and then I will also ask if you will join me to shamelessly join in and promote it too. The more who join, the more shamelessness for us all. This should be fun for everyone and we are doing something good.

God bless.

Just checking in to see how you are doing and wanted to wish you a Happy 4th of July.

Did you get the chair yet and is your cat doing better, is he relaxing now?

Anyway, just keep taking it easy until you feel better. My prayers are with you.

God bless.
