Lukas has gone off to his vet for an emergency visit today. He hasn't had a bowel movement since early Saturday and constipation can lead to severe problems for cats. While I am grateful to my friend's husband for taking him in on a moment's notice, the man's attempt to lecture me about low ash cat food and urinary problems is completely unnecessary and his assumptions about the nature of the problem and "mansplaining" were just a bit more than I'm willing to bear at the moment.
Having been through this with a previous cat who had kidney disease and peed like a racehorse, he will likely get fluids and a kidney check, meaning bloodwork. The extra fluid is meant to move things along. If that doesn't do the trick, anti-nausea medication may be in order. At this point, his vet does not feel an enema is needed. Since Lukas is more likely to go in the comfort of his own home, he will be returning this afternoon,
Meanwhile, I've changed and cleaned the box, washed his licked-clean breakfast bowl and refreshed his water supply. He has had his pill and with a little luck, he will go and begin to feel better. If not, he'll be revisiting his vet Saturday.
Fingers crossed...

Fingers and toes crossed for you both.
Good luck for Lukas. And to anyone who attempts to overstep his job helping you!! Some people just can't resist, can they?
