Thank You Mr. Reed...

Blogger and friend Steve Reed recently gifted me a piece of our mutual past which appears below. Though no date is indicated, if memory serves, it was written on a slow news day sometime in 1986. The pictured vehicle is his and dates from his high school days. By the time I met him, it was on its way to becoming a mobile rust bucket covered with bumper stickers to hide the spots and served as a source of  rather humorous inspiration. He had this column taped in the car until its demise and saved it. I am sorry it isn't a better and more readable copy.

Cheers!

What a perfect souvenir of times past. And yes, I do read bumper stickers - sometimes with pleasure and sometimes in horror.

I haven't seen bumper stickers in years. Around here they're no longer a thing for some reason.
Interesting concept for a column, thank you. I did manage to read it, despite your disclaimers!

I'm glad you got a kick out of this memory, E! I certainly did! And yeah, I think you're right about the date -- 1986.

I read bumper stickers too, even when I'm driving, which may not be such a great idea. That was a completely enjoyable post, e, especially getting a sample of your writing from the past :)

I couldn't read the article much as I wanted to, some eye trouble. I did love bumper stickers in my time, the funny ones, needless to mention.
