Can you spell T-I=R=E=D???

I've been up since 5:30 courtesy of himself who prefers an early breakfast. Because I could not get back to sleep, the household trash was dispatched to the dumpster, sheets were laundered, tea was made and his box changed, all before 7 AM. The cleaner came shortly after ten and was out of here in a short hour and ten, having dusted, mopped and Hoovered.

The afternoon has been quiet and himself is now curled up on some towels in the closet,  a practice he has only started recently. I wonder what he is thinking, slinking away to a quiet, dark place. Does he wonder why humans have to be so noisy? Is he annoyed by the frequent barking of the upstairs dog after her owner leaves for work? Perhaps the new level of quiet in our household encourages a longing for spaces previously unclaimed. Prior to this respite, cheeky boy had his paws in my lunch only to be disappointed that my vegetarian sandwich lacked the aroma of tuna.

Maybe tuna holds a special place in his cat dreams...

Both Jazz and Jewel retired to our wardrobe when life became too much, too noisy, too frightening. After Jewel's death Jazz avoided it for a week, but has claimed it again. And the patina of cat fur on our clothing grows...

Early morning must be a favourite for many of our feline friends. I have one cat that shows up every single morning - very early - to wake me up. She wants her soft food and she wants it now! :)

With all the scientific advances made by mankind in the search for the perfect bed - they probably don't compare with being curled up on some towels in a nice warm closet.

It definitely sounds like he was in the mood for a retreat -- possibly the combo of barking, hoovering and other activity just put him over the edge!

My grandmother used to complain that her cat (Killer) "made" her get up at 5:30 every moriing. He also decided which TV shows she was allowed to watch. I swear she made that cat a substitute for my grandfather.

Funny things pets. When they want to eat, they want to eat.

You're not the only who sometimes wonders what "themselves" are "thinking" about us, humans. :-)

Lovely post.

Greetings from London.

So sad all round when they go isn't it? Mine reminds me of a little old man in a fur coat, and I would not mind the extra fur on the sofa if only she were still around to leave more of it behind. The cleaner got it all up the other day and he won't sit there as he prefers to leave his traces on me...

Yes indeed...and she spares you having to buy an alarm clock!

It is more likely the nest of towels but there have been many days I'd have traded for a cave some place...thanks for your visit!

They do have their ways these feline companions, we're just harder to train!
