How Was Your Day?

Today was an off-day...

The therapist with whom I've been working since a former neighbor died in my house and I started the morning playing dropped call with our cell phones, eventually ending up talking about my mother and some of the strange patterns that trigger anger in me...Nothing I had not already sussed out, but what to do to get beyond it is the hard part.

Then, because I had a medical appointment and had made arrangements with the paratransit for pick up three days ago, I waited out their hour window. When no vehicle appeared, I called and was told the driver was three to five minutes away. After ten minutes had elapsed with no-one in sight, I called again. This time, the driver was six minutes away...Something was off with their math, but rather than argue, I waited another ten minutes, calling a third time to be told the driver was stuck in traffic. The bus finally appeared at 2:18 PM, three minutes after I was to have been at my appointment. I had called the clinic and advised them of the situation. I arrived at 2:46 PM and my appointment was scheduled for 2:45. I then waited over an hour in a crowded medical school clinic, advising the young technician that I needed to be done by 5PM for my ride home. What happened instead was that she checked me over but I still needed to see the doctor and that had not happened at 5 o'clock when I entered the lobby to find someone waiting to take me home. This was not the same person who dropped me off as the drivers work different shifts...This isn't the first time this has transpired and I will need another appointment...I am seriously thinking of finding a private practice physician, though that is no guarantee against an overbooked office...

Then, there was the atmosphere of the place...everyone was glued to the CNN broadcasts regarding the deliberate plane crash in the Alps and the fire and building explosion in Manhattan. On edge, mouths agape, talking...Did wonders for my already fraying nerves...I closed my eyes against the din and breathed as deeply as I could manage, sending as much positive energy in my mind to the hurt and bereaved. By the time I reached my door a bit after six, I was exhausted but happy to be home. I'm hoping tomorrow will be better, though not unfortunately for those who died in that crash or the firey explosion or their loved ones...
