Photos...

By way of explanation, I got rid of five bulky pieces and replaced them with a love seat and arm chair and a lamp. Things are much roomier and I can move about with ease. The cat has appropriated the love seat as his own and left the arm chair from which I can read in peace. The last picture is taken from the small hallway. The bookcases are now in my bedroom. Apart from this, the front door has been freshly re-painted. Now, if only I could figure out what to do in the kitchen...

De-cluttering...

I have one rule for the household...

When something new comes in, something old must go.

Since getting my wheelchair, the front room and other areas of my small flat had become obstacle courses. The opportunity presented itself for most serious de-cluttering I've ever done once the flat was torn up due to water damage. The futon, side tables, matching chair and ottoman went to the family of my builder's helper.  An unused desk chair, clothing and a lamp went to a charitable organisation. Two bags of books were donated to the library and various kitchen items went to my now former cleaner. Once both closets were cleared, more miscellany left the flat. Being a minimalist by nature, I cannot say I was sad to see any of it go. I like seeing spaces in my rooms and closets. As it is late, I'll post photos tomorrow.
